Evolutionary Dynamics

Presentación del Departamento

The Evolutionary Dynamics Department includes groups focusing on processes of change over time (evolution) and on the mechanisms and interactions that drive and constrain those changes (dynamics) across different biological scales. It integrates genetic, molecular, cellular, and ecological perspectives, with a strong emphasis on computational approaches such as bioinformatics, modelling, and data integration. Research spans diverse but complementary areas, including the evolution of gene regulatory networks and novel organs, the role of non-coding DNA and genome organization in phenotypic change, host–microbe and bacteriophage interactions, protein evolution and structure, microbiome–immune system coevolution, and fundamental cellular processes like cytoskeletal dynamics and genome stability. It also explores emerging topics such as small open reading frames and AI-driven protein analysis.
